We all have something in us that we’re meant to do and give in to this world, the same way we all have that one thing that we all want to accomplish or that one person we make proud of. But often, life has other ideas, and things do not always flow as simple as they may seem, or we believe they should. Distractions and a lack of focus and priority have often kept many of us from focusing on that one thing. Whether that would be writing that blog post, finally starting that business you thought of years ago or rebuilding that relationship with a loved one. Things sometimes get in the way. But do they? Or are we just letting them and making excuses? A wise man once said time is given to you, and it is one of the few things you have control over. A saying I agree with to an extent for various reasons.
One of them is that we don’t get to decide what we will see tomorrow or what problems or successes. Sometimes tomorrow never happens. We hope and believe for it to happen. But once we have it at our disposal, then yes, we are essentially in charge of what we do with that time and where we make time for various things. Sometimes we make time to commute to and from work, time for family, exercise, reading, working….the list is endless. But when was the last time you made time for that one thing instead of giving reasons and excuses for why you’re not doing it?
This is just a reminder and in no way to feel bad or guilty about yourself because I have also been there. What is that one thing that you’ve been wanting to do for a long time or essentially have to do but keep putting off? Why have you been putting it off? Why has it come in second or last place in your mind map of priorities? What happened to that one thing? What happened to that Dream? Why Did you let it go? These are often questions that may fuel a sense or feeling of regret, but that shouldn’t make you feel so but rather get you thinking about why?
So if you’ve read this far, you’re probably thinking, why is this triggering me? This reminds you to go back to that one thing your heart beats for, and your mind cannot forget. That purpose and gift that God put in your being, that talent that you have not spent time on developing. Let’s go back and pick that up. As we are in a new year, it is so easy to get lost in thinking about and trying to do various things, some of us have picked up a lot of new things, and we don’t know why all to keep up with society and the “at this age and stage of life you should be…..” but sometimes we can make things so simple and still be our best by simply channelling in on that one thing. That one thing can eventually birth more things. Don’t let life drain you so much you lose and forget about that one thing.
